The first thing to note is that when you buy bees from HMS Honey you are buying only the best. We do not skimp on quality or cost, and you will be given the absolute best. The best frames, the best bees, the best Nuc and the best service.

All frames will be new from the year the Nuc was made. The Nuc box itself will be new and we will not send something to you that we are not 100% happy with and would not use ourselves and that is why we can say we will give the very best we have no matter what the cost is to us, so, you can buy with confidence when you buy from HMS Honey.

Buying Bees from HMS Honey could not be easier. You have the following options available to you when you buy from HMS Honey.

The Total Cost of A Nuc of Buckfast Bees is:

For Delivery From HMS Honey:

Total Cost £270 

This starts with paying a £20 Non-Refundable Deposit.

The reason for this is that we are a small family run business, and the welfare of our bees is at the heart of what we do at HMS Honey, and we always want what’s best for them. We only make up the Nuc’s we either need for ourselves or for you, our customers. So that we do not harm or stress bees about by then not having a suitable home or outlet for them. This is why we only make up what we need or what our customers require.

If we are out of stock, it is always worth asking if we can do another Nuc as we really enjoy making these and we should be able to help and support you, please do just ask.

What You will receive the following:

• 1 x 6 Frame Nucleus Colony of Bees
• 1 x Paynes Poly Nuc
• 1 x Ventilated Screen
• 1 x F1 Buckfast Mated Queen marked Blue.
• 6 x DN4 New when placed in the Nuc to make it frames with bees.

Media Items With Your Order

• 1 x video of us making your Nuc up.
• 1 x Video a month update (July - April) of us checking. feeding and caring for your Nuc.
• 1 x video of us shipping your Nuc to you.
• Extra videos can be arranged but at a small cost to be confirmed with HMS Honey before video is produced and sent to you.

Nuc will be available to collect or have them delivered  from 1st April 2026  - 31st May 2026 depending on weather conditions and how well they have developed.

When your Nuc is ready we will contact you and let you know. We want your Nuc to be in the best condition when you receive it. The health and welfare of the bees is especially important to us, and we will not rush in sending them out or asking you to collect them as we want you to be able to enjoy them right from the go. If this means that we have to wait until mid-way through May so, be it, our bee’s health and welfare is at the very heart of all we do, and your satisfaction is just as important to us as well.

Our bees are very much user friendly, and this make them ideal for the home garden, roof top garden, loft or attic or even a narrow boat will manage with these in them.

Weather this be your first beehive or you are seeking to expand on the number of hives you already have then these are the right bees for you. The Buckfast Queens are known for their good temperament, and they are incredibly productive. They are great for honey production, making splits, rearing queens from and if you work it well in your very first year you may even get a good honey crop from them like many people have done in the past.

So we encourage you to discover our amazing and wonderful F1 Buckfast Honey bee's handpicked for you because of their ability to produce an amazing  amount of honey, their friendly and calming temperament, and their ability to draw raw honeycomb to infused honey jars, and their ability to give you the very best that nature has to offer time after time again and again. 

The queens we use at HMS Honey are supplied by our Trusted partners Black Mountain Honey. At Black Mountain Honey they  grafted the queens from an F0 Buckfast queens which must pass vigour’s testing before they use them for breeding stock. 

If you are looking for the best of British, then these are the bees for you. They are perfectly calm on the comb and produce honey crops year after year.

We will contact you a month before your bees are ready to just give you a rough date they will be shipped to you so that you are able to plan and get ready for receiving them. We will then contact you 2 weeks before delivery date so that we can confirm a date with you that is convenient and works for you and us. We will email you and text you with these details.

All bees sent for delivery will be sent via RM Special guaranteed next day delivery service using a vented screen cover to ensure they reach you in peak condition.

Deposits are non-refundable due to the fact that once we have this we then plan and make your Nuc. Videos and or regular updates on the process of making, caring and shipping your Nuc will be shared with you throughout your order process.

Important Points To Note:

The queens will be marked with the year the bees have being created with. You will not need to introduce the queen she will have already be set up with your colony.

 F1 Buckfast Queen are used for the following reason:

• Gentle in nature
• Low swarm tendency
• capable of gathering substantial honey crops.

Paying for your bee’s.

Once you have placed your order and paid the deposit, we will send you a confirmation email to state that we have received your deposit.

You will then need to confirm if you would like to collect your bees or want them delivering to you. This must be done no later than 1 month before delivery/collection date and the remaining balance must be paid. You can pay the balance at any point.
