Further Information:

When do we run experiences?

Our experiences run from April through to the end of September, weather permitting. (We may be even possible to do some in October if you ask)

Sessions are usually held on Saturdays, for the half day and full day courses but we’re actively working to add more weekday and evening options during the summer months. The two hour taster course is mainly run on weekday nights but once again we can arrange for weekends if you would prefer this.  If you have a specific preference, don’t hesitate to Email — we’ll do our best to accommodate you. We can also arrange special dates for private groups or family events.

Please Check out our available dates  for Courses on our website these can be found, or contact us directly to discuss any special requests or custom arrangements.

Who runs the sessions?

Sessions are run by our Head Beekeeper Matt and our experienced team of beekeepers and educators.

Will the weather affect the session?

Contrary to popular belief, Yorkshire boasts a pleasant climate, and we often enjoy fantastic weather during our courses. On the rare occasion the weather takes a turn, rest assured, we are fully equipped to handle less favourable conditions. Postponing an experience is an uncommon occurrence. Even our hardy Yorkshire bees are well-behaved, remaining calm and cooperative—even when the weather cools down or rain begins to fall.

Is there an age limit?

No, it’s really just about ensuring we have a suit that fits you. Our bee experiences are designed for everyone—adults, children, families, and groups. Each session is tailored to suit the participants, ensuring a rewarding and safe experience for all. Our youngest visitor so far has been just 2½ years old, and yes, we even have suits for toddlers! Please note, children under 16 must be accompanied by a paying adult. If you’re unsure or need some extra guidance, feel free to give us a call or stop by—we’d be happy to help!

Can I Get Stung?

No need to feel nervous. Bees can sting, but it’s not their goal—they die when they do. Our bees are bred to be calm and well-tempered.  We provide a suit and gloves to keep you protected. Your safety and enjoyment are our priority. Most customers forget about stings once suited up and surrounded by our bees.

Is it suitable for people with disabilities?

We believe every customer has unique needs and deserves a personalized approach. Beekeeping is an enjoyable, relaxing pastime with amazing benefits for mental health and well-being. Whether you seek a peaceful hobby or want to explore further, there are tools and techniques to make beekeeping accessible and effortless for everyone. At our training apiary, we welcome beekeepers of all ages, abilities, and experiences, specializing in support for individuals with mobility, motor, sensory, or learning challenges.

Our accessible facilities include wheelchair access, in-apiary seating, and customized solutions for individual needs. We've even worked with a beekeeper requiring a permanent oxygen supply, proving no challenge is too big for us.

As a full-time wheelchair user, I understand these challenges deeply. Have questions or need reassurance? Give us a call or visit for a chat. We're here to help you enjoy the joys of beekeeping!

What should I bring?

Please remember to bring your voucher with you. We provide beekeeping suits and gloves for your use, with sizes available for everyone—from toddlers to 8XL. It’s essential to wear sensible, fully enclosed outdoor footwear. Wellies are ideal, but walking boots are another great option. Please note that sandals, flip-flops, and high heels are not permitted. Don’t forget to bring a long-sleeved top to wear underneath your beekeeping suit for added comfort and protection.

Can I Take Pictures?

Wearing beekeeping gloves makes it difficult to use touch screens or small buttons. If you'd like to bring a larger camera, please let us know in advance. However, keep in mind that honeybees can be sensitive to electronic devices and may react negatively to them.

To make sure you have lasting memories of your experience, we usually take a few photos for you. This is a complimentary service, and we’ll email the images to you after the event.

Can I buy honey etc?

Yes, honey, candles and other bee-themed items will be available for purchase. We stock a much wider range of products than are available via our online store. We also stock a range of hives, clothing and beekeeping equipment and can order additional items as required.

How do I book a Bee Experience?

You can buy  a course online. Vouchers make very popular gifts for Christmas, Birthdays and other special occasions. There are booking details on the back of the voucher. Our Bee Experiences are hugely popular and attract visitors from across the UK and internationally. It is advisable to book early, to avoid disappointment.
